With great fun and fervor, The Holy Wonder Smart School celebrated Teej in the school premises in Mohali on Wednesday. The area was decorated to give an authentic Punjabi cultural look. The tiny tots from junior classes were dressed in traditional attire complete with ‘Jatti’ style ornaments and accessories, to celebrate the occasion. The function which includes dance performances and energetic ‘Giddha’ was enjoyed by students.
Teej songs were also sung by kids. A swing adorned with beautiful flowers was the attraction of the whole function and little girls enjoyed it to the fullest. The celebrations could not be complete without the Mehndi Art session. It was talent unveiled as girls exhibited their skills by applying mehndi on the palms of the teachers and students.
School Principal Premjit Grover congratulated all the participants as well as teachers for their efforts to make it fun filled. The Principal conveyed a message that motto of organising such cultural activities was to help students to relate and bond them with their culture.
This festival is a glimpse of our rich cultural heritage, which seems to be taking a back seat these days. But with these kinds of celebrations, we can keep our culture alive. Moreover the students get to imbibe the cultural values of Punjab, as told by Director of the School Ashween Arora.
The function concluded with Punjabi dance ‘Gidda’ and a traditional and delightful feast of malpuas and kheer.
