Charity Drive held at Spring Meadows School Zirakpur

A charity drive was organised at Spring Meadow School in Zirakpur wherein children from under privileged were the special guests for the day. They were welcomed with putting tikka. Many fun filled activities were arranged for them. School students played hand in hand with them and shared their tiffins. Santa was the main attraction. Many races were played such as musical chairs, musical statue. Winners were given medals by the Santa. Santa also distributed copy, pencil, biscuits and sweets to the children. Students and school staff made voluntary contributions in the form of books, clothes, toys, stationery, soap etc. Many local residents participated and contributed for the cause.

The school authorities gave the message of the spirit of service and charity towards homeless and needy to the school students and wish to support more such humanitarian causes in future so that the school students are acquainted with the real life issues of society and learn empathy and Bring A Joy.

Fresher Party organized at Rattan Group

Rattan Profession Education College, Sector 78 organized Fresher Party at its campus with pomp, fun and gaiety.  Music, dance, ramp walk and various entertainment programs presented by the fresher students kept the audience enthralled. The burst of talent exhibited by Freshers was absolutely mesmerizing. The audience consisted of senior students, faculty, guests and parents spellbound throughout the programs.

The program commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest Rita Kolhi, Senior Advocate. While Pooja Sharma was special Guest. After that welcome song and scintillating performances by students of Western Dance, Songs, Fusion Dance, Gidha, Skit etc. which was followed by the first introductory round of the participants to the Mr and Miss Fresher contest. Talent rounds and catwalks were interspersed, after the initial shortlisting from over 200 contestants, there were 4 rounds, 2 each for Boys and Girls. The title of Mr. Fresher 2017 was bagged by Kunal Chaudhary and Miss Fresher 2017 was bagged by Jasmehak Kaur. While Miss Personality and Miss Charming were awarded to Neha and Muskaan .

Free parking for Chandigarh Residents by showing “Swachhata MoHUA App”on mobile phones

The commuters using the parking lots of Municipal Corporation Chandigarh can access Free parking by showing “Swachhata MoHUA app” in their mobile phones from 27th December to New Year Eve. This was decided in a meeting of Swachh Bharat Mission held under Jitender Yadav, Commissioner MCC-cum-Mission Director, SBM, Chandigarh today. He said that the MCC has decided to give a gift to the citizens of Chandigarh on the New Year eve to access Free parking in all the parking sites of MCC by showing “Swachhata MoHUA app” on their mobile phones. 
The Commissioner said that the citizens can collect free parking coupon to access the Free parking throughout city from the kiosk of MCC, which will be set up at entry point of every parking site throughout city. The meeting was attended by Dr. Saurabh Mishra, IAS, Additional Commissioneer, Dr. P.S. Bhatti, Medical Officer of Health, other officers of Swachh Bharat team, MCC and Sunil Badlani, Director, Arya toll infra Ltd., the firm, which is managing all the parking sites of MCC throughout city.

Santa’s Party at Ashmah International School

Ashmah International School celebrated Christmas with great fervor and gusto at Sector 70, Mohali. Students of Ashmah School decorated the Christmas tree very creatively and had come dressed in bright and colorful party dresses. It was an event to unite parent and children on a same platform to celebrate Christmas with fun and frolic. All the parents along with their children participated enthusiastically in the fun games organized by the school. Such as bursting of balloon, four leg race, cricket game etc. Parents actively participated in the games and won prizes.

School Director J S Kesar honored the winners with prizes along with their parents who won in the games and said that such celebrations are educative as well as entertaining to break the monotony of the students, besides gave chance to students to show their hidden talents on the stage and enhance the confidence level of the children. Overall, it was a celebration with lots of fun, joy and a message to spread peace.

Later,Students in colourful costumes danced to the tunes of “we wish you a merry christmas” and Santa showered the audience with his bagful of goodies. The Principal of the School, Amarjeet Kaur expressed her gratitude to the parents for their support and spirit, she conveyed her wishes to all Parents for the upcoming year.

The Holy Wonder Smart School celebrated Christmas at its campus in Mohali. On this occasion, a play depicting the birth of Lord Jesus was enacted by the young artists. The play focused on hardships of Mary and Joseph before Christ was born. The strong support and humble assistance of the community was reflected where a shepherd gives shelter to Mother Mary to be blessed. The small children dressed as farm animals with hanging bells brought a special aura to the festival. The three kings and their wise men from the royal kingdom presented the riches and traditional gifts.

One of the teachers dressed up as Santa and spread the message of eco-friendly atmosphere and distributed candies to the students and cut the cake along with the students which was later distributed in the students .The Director, Holy Wonder School, Ashween Arora appraised the efforts of the little ones as well as the teachers to welcome the festival. She wished Merry Christmas and very Happy and prosperous New Year to all the students and the staff.

Ushered in the Christmas spirit with a celebration, Nursery Children of Saupin’s 32 School celebrated Christmas along with their parents. A baking activity saw the children dressed as little Santas enthusiastically helping their parents assemble and bake a cake. A Christmas tree was decorated, popcorn and wafers distributed and gifts exchanged. The celebration ended on a happy note with the singing of Christmas carols.

With a grand entry made by a Little Santa to give goodies and distributed candies and gifts to children, Apna Shabd School, Zirakpur, celebrated Christmas as a happy time. The whole environment was filled with festivity. The little ones of kindergarten presented a colourful skit related to the birth of Jesus Christ wherein they dressed as Santa Claus, Joseph, Mother Mary, The Kings (Three Wiseman) and the shepherds.

Depicting the true essence of love, joy and peace, children enacted the Christmas play. The play was interspersed with carol singing. The entire campus was festooned with colourful streamers and balloons and a brightly decorated Christmas tree. Overriding every other emotion, a wave of cheer enveloped the school. Parents also participated in various fun games and appreciate all jaunty juniors. School staff did an excellent job to make the celebration successful. School Director Avnish Nigam expressed thanks to all guests and felicitated students on the occasion.

The British School Panchkula organised Winter Carnival in which tiny tots and their parents came to get an insight of the school and the activities going in the school. Carnival stalls were set to allure children like Fun games, Tattoo making, Photo Booth.
The school yard was abuzz with over 500 parents and children. Parents filled the Registration form for admission of their ward. The name slips were put in a box for Lucky dip. In the Curriculum Galaxy the parents were explained the curriculum of the next academic year and the teaching pedagogy practiced in the school. The children’s academic and art work was on attractive display for parents.

The students of Class IX took the parents for a tour around the campus. A free dental check-up camp was also organised by a parent, Dr. Deepti Dang during the carnival. Parent volunteers, Simple Singhi and Ashima Puri had also put up colouring stalls and carnival games. Children enjoyed playing with Santa Claus and different cartoon characters like ‘Chhota Bheem’ and Mickey Mouse. Different activities were planned to keep the children busy. They entered the play and activity area where they had a lot of fun and were not willing to come out. They played different fun games like threading the beads, arranging alphabets and numbers, finger painting, sorting of objects shape wise and tear and paste. Children showcased their talent of Art and Craft by displaying their projects.
Parents admired their effort. In addition to this selfie booth was there where parents took a selfie with their child and enjoyed click the most. The day went smooth with the fun filled activities, lovely parents and adorable children. The school chairperson, Urmila Sethi blessed everyone with her gracious presence and conveyed season’s greetings to all present.

Inter School Spring Sports Fest held at Spring Meadows School Zirakpur

Spring meadows school organized a super mini inter school spring sports fest. During the event, many races were held in which students showed their full enthusiasm and displayed sportsmanship. Chief guests on the occasion were Pawan Kumar Sharma, Station House Officer (SHO) Police Station Zirakpur and Prabjot Kaur, DSP cum additional SHO, police station Zirakpur. They motivated students and awarded them with medals. They expressed their happiness to see students participating and doing stunts. March past, Drill, Yoga and Christmas song were part of the meet. The event concluded with singing of National Anthem.

Students brings laurels to Saupins 32 Chandigarh

Saupins school 32 Chandigarh secured 2nd overall position in the ‘RFYS-2017’ Chandigarh conducted by the Reliance Youth Foundation and was awarded a prize of Rs 10,000.

Members of the Relay team (Mohjeet Singh of Class IX, Navneet Singh of Class X, Sarthak Maggon of Class X and Deepinder Singh of Class X) won the third prize. Deepinder Singh of Class X got the 2nd prize in long jump and 3rd prize in the 100mt race, Mohjeet Singh got the third prize in High Jump in the Junior boys category.

UT Mayor celebrates her birthday amongst Safai Karmacharis and door to door waste collectors

UT Mayor Asha Jaswal, celebrated her 63rd birthday amongst the Safai Karmacharies of MCC and door to door waste collectors at Dadumajra colony. During the celebrations, a surprise party was arranged by the local councillor, Farmila and Rajesh Kalia alongwith the Safai Karmacharis and door to door waste collectors of the area. Arun Sood, former Mayor and councillor of ward No.8 also joined them during the celebrations. The Mayor cut cake amongst the gathering and also distributed blankets to all the present area safaikarmacharis and door to door waste collectors.

“Show and Tell” activity organised at Ashmah International School

It is one of the simplest and interesting activities that young students were engage in, where the performer faced the audiences with a particular item and proceeded to show it while telling information about it without preparation and training. The main benefits of these activities are mainly to impart speaking skills and audience participation, cooperation.

The Chairman of the School, JS Kesar while distributing prizes said that Show and Tell, if channelized properly, can prove to be a powerful tool for developing the language and communication skills of the child. Students can overcome stage fright and learn the skills of public speaking and confident students can be power of the nation to bring prosperity and success.

St Xavier’s Chandigarh celebrate Christmas

The magic of Christmas could be seen filling the grounds of St. Xavier’s Senior Secondary School, Chandigarh as they celebrated the spirit of Christmas. The program commenced with a play depicting the birth of Christ and the little girls dressed as angels welcomed him with a beautiful dance performance. The students of classes 1,2 and 3 also added the joyous flavors to the festivities by their foot tapping choreography. The jolly Santas of nursery could be seen painting the grounds red and stealing the hearts of all present, with their red Santa dresses and their zest. The teachers dressed as new generation Santas entered the arena on bikes and created a fervor and excitement among the students.
 



Chairman, I .William, wished everyone MERRY Christmas and highlighted the fact that a person does not need to go in search of Christmas in different places as it is in their hearts so everyone needed to be generous ,good and loving towards other which was the actual essence of Christmas. Mervin West, the Principal, thanked the students and teachers for putting up such a wonderful show and wished every one a Merry Christmas.

Seminar on Key to Good Parenting organized at Shemrock School Mohali

A workshop on Positive Parenting ‘Sharmao Mat Baat Karo’ was held at Shemrock School Mohali for the parents. Retd Major General Raj Mehta was Key note Speaker at the moment and shared his views on how to look beyond the behavior of a child and to connect more with them. He stressed upon the need to identify the qualities in each child and help them nurture it accordingly. He elucidated not to impose your dreams and wishes on your child. He further urged the Parents to encouraged positive attitude of children and ensures constructive interactions.

While interacting with the parents He, later also discussed important aspects of good parenting in order to provide best for children. According to him it is necessary that old system of reviewing be replaced with the dynamic teaching reviews. He advised parents to take a few simple steps at home that help their children enjoy and excel. According to him as a parent sometimes we tend to overlook small achievements of our children, which actually need encouragement. Praising a child for an improved behavior too is an important part of parenting.

Presented an exclusive preview of the astonishing menswear pieces epitomizing the design story of luxury wear brand ‘Mehraab’ by designer duo Arun Ahuja and John Marya. The show was part of Gentlemen’s Club 4.0 event held at Hotel Hyatt in Chandigarh. On the second day of luxury art and fashion event, the visionary artist duo presented 40 garments through a fashion show that saw the label’s endeavour to translate traditional craft into effortless beauty.

The collection showcased the celebratory amalgamation of the classic, with the designer’s signature contemporary touch. It renewed the vintage charm of a bygone era through a design story of velvet, zardosi inspired by ‘Nawabs’, hand embroidery with Victorian influence and woven blend of ikkat and gold along with highlights of fur. Handcrafted in varied hues, the collection was a classic compilation of well-tailored and embroidered kurta-salwars, bandhgalas, kurta-bandis along with drape and long jackets showcasing an enchanting fusion of urban and tradition. The evening also saw the limited edition of the laptop and i-pad bags and shoes soaked in the royalty of French paisley being displayed.

Speaking about the experience, Arun Ahuja said, “I am amazed by the energy and the love the City Beautiful has shown to our work. This has given us a reason to make a major comeback soon."

"I think, our idea to let the fashionistas of Chandigarh know our unconventional approach to motifs and silhouettes’ has worked and the evening was a proof of the same," Ahuja added.

John Marya said, “We are thrilled with the response of the audience. It gives us immense pride to see how far we have all come today. Gentlemen’s Club is a microcosm of what we have to offer the world.” Directed by Ketan Bhatia and styled by Harsh Khullar the fashion saga saw India’s leading models including Mudit Malhotra, Saud Khan, Suraj Dhalia and Dushyant Singh Raghuvanshi walking the ramp. Deepinder Patwalia and Bharat Talwar walked the ramp celebrating the timeless tale and Sibal family was spotted in the front row. Curated by Smriti Puri  and Poonam Puri, Gentlemen’s Club is an art and fashion event that treasures inimitable experience for men blended around bespoke, desirable and equally accessible trends.

Differently Abled Children from different districts of Punjab participated in this mega event. Children suffering from Hearing Impairment, Visually Impaired, Orthopedically Handicapped and Autism were seen performing various Cultural event and Folk Dances.


Deaf group of boys and girls performed Punjab Folk Dance Bhangra and Gidda , whereas Jaspreet Kaur a blind , performed bhangra with Saheb who was seen doing Solo Dance with great energy having autism disability followed by other solo and group performances. Students were also honored by the Chief Guest Jayant Krishna, COO and Executive Director, National Skill Development Corporation for their morale encouragement.

Inter School Quiz competition held at Mount Carmel School Chandigarh

An Inter School Science Quiz Competition was organized by Mount Carmel School, Chandigarh in the school premises on Saturday. The Competition was conducted for the students of Classes IX and X.  Students from various schools of the Tricity participated in this competition. The competition started with a preliminary round in which 10 MCQ’s were asked. From all the participating Teams six were selected for the On Stage Final Round.  This Round comprised of 4 rounds viz. The Group think Round, Picture and Specimen Identification Round, Anagrams round and the Rapid Fire Round.  

The host school did not take part in the Competition as a matter of policy that in any Inter School Competition hosted by Mount Carmel, the students from the school would not compete. Trophies to the Winners and the Runners Up were given by Iona Valerie Brendish, the Principal of the School. 

The results of this Competition are as given:

RUNNERS UP:         Carmel Convent School, Chandigarh.

While addressing the gathering Kirron Kher appreciated the speedy work done by Municipal Corporation for all the projects taken in hand. She said that MC is developing new projects very fast manner. She said that Chandigarh is a beautiful city, known by its greenery, cleanliness and its residents. Stressing upon the need of cleanliness, she said that it is responsibility of every citizen to keep their surroundings neat and clean and maintain their city cleanest. She said that MC is providing world class community centres, parks, open air gyms near by the doorsteps of city residents as per the needs and comforts and the people should share equal responsibility to keep the public properties clean and safe as their own houses.
She also said that the open air theatre will be a boon for the local artists to showcase their talent and polish their art more beautifully. She further added that with the provision of this facility the local residents can also enjoy the theatre items. The Mayor said that the Municipal Corporation is developing green parks better and better from the last ones. She requested the area residents to take the responsibility for upkeep of the parks as their own property. She said that green parks will be meant to cater the needs of area residents and to keep these parks neat and clean is their prime responsibility. She said that MCC has changed the picture of City beautiful with providing world class facilities like community centers, developing green belts and parks and making the basic amenity provision policies people friendly etc.

She also requested to download Swachhata MoHUA app and be an active user in it by giving voteup and feedback after resolving the complaints.
Earlier, Davesh Moudgil welcomed the chief guest and other prominent persons on the occasion. He said that the green park will be constructed covering area of 7.34 acres having 1.76 km footpath and 1596 Sqm. area for parking of near about 70 cars. Rupees 481.05 lacs estimated expenditure will be incurred in this project under AMRUT scheme. He said that the green park will be best of its kind in Chandigarh and will have a open air theatre also with a capacity of 1000 seating numbers. He said that it was a good project in the beautification stream in the city and area residents will enjoy it most. He said that good quality facilities will be provided in all the open air theatre with providing best structures and toilet blocks and other facilities as per requirement.

Chandigarh Management Association (CMA) celebrated its 51st Foundation Day at Hotel Hyatt Regency, which marked the beginning of a new era for the association. The theme of this foundation day was ‘Innovation and Technology for Sustainable Development. It was a magnanimous event where global leaders Dr. Christopher Gibbins, Consul General, Consulate of Canada and Partap K Aggarwal, Managing Director, IDS Infotech Ltd. participated as the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour respectively.

Dr. Christopher Gibbins talked about developing resources for Innovation and Technology through education as the most crucial facet for inclusive growth of all stakeholders along with R & D, Entrepreneurial Trainings and sustained investment. He shared the initiatives of Canadian Government and Corporates towards sustainable development.

Interactive Talk on Study and Exam Skills held at St Xavier’s High School Panchkula

A team of mental health experts under the aegis of Fortis Hospital, Mohali conducted an Interactive talk on study and exam skills for the students of classes 8th to 10th at St. Xavier's High School, Panchkula. The talk was conducted by Jyoti Sharma, an eminent counselling psychologist working with the department of Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences, Fortis Mohali. She discussed lot of important topics like goal setting, time management, tips to enhance memory, lifestyle management during studies and exams.
