Saupin's bagged overall trophy in Taekwondo Championship

Culinary Innovation competition held at The British School Panchkula

A Culinary Innovation competition was held at The British School Panchkula in for the students of Class VI to X. This competition included only those recipes which were prepared without fire. The enthusiastic participants surprised everyone with their culinary talents by preparing healthy dishes which included salads, snacks, sandwiches, chats, shakes, flavoured yogurts, etc. Children were very particular about the nutrient quotient of their food. They worked together forming teams and created mouth watering delicacies.
School Principal, Anita Mehra congratulated everyone on their exemplary performance and said, “The aim of this competition was to provide a platform to students to showcase their talent and create awareness about the nutritional value of food cooked without fire.”
School Director, Geetika Sethi said, “It is a hands on learning experience for these children so that they become independent in the times to come. These children developed a sense of pride and accomplishment when their efforts were praised. We are happy to see more boys taking interest in cooking these days. We can see some budding chefs in here. ”

Smiling Kiddies Playway School celebrates Earth Day

Spreading the message ‘Save Earth Save Life’, Earth Day was celebrated at Smiling Kiddies Play Way School in Zirakpur. It was a great day to shower environmental education. Kiddies were in green attires and enjoyed gardening. They ate their green vegetables during lunch time which they brought in Tiffin.

9th Panchkula District Chess Championship concludes

Around 150 chess lovers and little chess masters participated in the 9th Panchkula District Chess Championship organized by ‘The Chess Association (Panchkula) with the collaboration of St. Teresa Convent School, Panchkula under the aegis of Panchkula Chess Championship for the U-7, U-11, U-15, U-19 boys. The competition saw participants from various schools of Panchkula district. The Chief Guest for the event  was Naresh Sharma, Secretary, Haryana Carom Association. The day began with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest and Principal Shelley Chugh.
It was followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour. The day was filled with the atmosphere of enthusiasm, winning spirit and love for the game. The parents of the players supported and motivated the children.
The event concluded the second day, which was graced by Amit Chopra, Administrator of the School. The prizes  were awarded to the winners in various categories by DSO Kaithal, Retd. Jaswant Singh, Administrator,  Amit Chopra and Principal Shelley Chugh.
They applauded and appreciated the spirits of camaraderie and competition shown by the students. The students were asked to stay motivated as winning and losing are sides of the same coin.
It was a great day for the winners, who took away the trophy and participants who took away a great lesson and a vow to play and win the next tournaments.

Summer Vegatable activity held at The British School Panchkula

A summer vegetable activity was conducted at The British School, Panchkula to sensitize the children about the summer season and the vegetables that grow in this season. The children were made aware of the names of the summer vegetables and how they benefit us.
Prakriti Singh and Manha Khan of UKG Class promised to eat summer vegetables while Jaipreet Gill shared a recipe of summer vegetable salad with his friends. The school director Sanjay Sethi said that because children listen more to their teachers, such efforts in the classroom will help in making the students eat healthy seasonal produce.

Smiling kiddies Play Way School celebrated Baisakhi with full of Zest and zeal. The school was decorated depicting the Punjab tradition and harvest season. Kiddies were dressed in colourful Punjabi traditional attires.
They relished Punjabi dishes to mark the festivity and enjoyed their file activity. Nursery and K.G classes’ kiddies pasted ear corn in their files and playgroup class kiddies decorated the picture of dhol in their files.

They were explained about the importance of the festival by showcasing Punjabi culture. The motive behind the celebration was to apprise students of their rich culture and heritage. The school premises were aptly decorated.

Tapping on the beats of Dhol, children of pre-primary wing performed Bhangra with great enthusiasm to celebrate Baisakhi at Saupin's 32 in Chandigarh.
Children were also taught about the reaping of the harvest and the beginning of the Hindu New Year in North India. Kids were agog with excitement the whole day. Children also took home souvenirs made by them in the classrooms.

A free health camp was organised by Ambika College of Nursing, Mohali as a helping hands for the rural community of village ‘Badali’ by the nursing students. Vibha Pandey, Managing Director of College was the prime source in organizing the health camp.

Farewell Party ‘Hasta La Vista’ held at GJIMT

Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology bid a vibrant farewell party “Hast La Vista” to its final year students at its campus. The junior students offered a grand gala cultural event to its outgoing seniors. The day started by seeking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati and lighting of the lamp. The event further entered into a joyous state with the western dance, bollywood dance and Bhangra followed by fashion show for judging Mr. and Ms. Gian Jyoti 2018.

The ceremony saw many dazzling performances both by seniors and juniors in the form of energetic dances that made the day more charming. Dr. Aneet Bedi, Director, Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology presented sachets, flowers and gifts to Mr. & Ms. Gian Jyoti and wish them all the best for their bright future. Ishita Sahu was crowned  Ms. Farewel and Akhil Saini as Mr. farewell  in undergraduate students. In Postgraduate students Manvi Jamwal and Shubham Raina won the title of Ms. Farewell and Mr. Farewell respectively. Asha Rani Bhagat won the title of Miss elegant whereas Avneet singh won the title of Mr. Handsome.

 J.S.Bedi, Chairman, Gian Jyoti Group blessed the students and said that there is no alternate of hard work. Chairman Bedi also advised the students to always demonstrate an ethical and professional behaviour while performing their role and responsibility in the corporate sector.

"Roshaan" concludes with Star performances and Cultural Colours

"Roshaan", an annual feature of Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura near Chandigarh concludes with the colourful performances by students of Aryans Group in the campus premises on Friday. The function started with the lamp lightening by Aryans Group Patrons Prof Roshan Lal Kataria, Rajni Kataria, MLA Rajpura Madan Lal Jalalpur, and Chariman Dr Anshu Kataria.

The main attraction of the event was the star cast of recently released Punjabi movie 'Subedar Joginder Singh' who not only performed for the students to promote their movie but also distributed t-shirts while moving into the heavily crowded area of not only the campus students but also the students from nearby colleges and university. Star cast Kulwinder Billa, Rajvir Jawanda, Aditi Sharma, Jaggi Singh, Charan Singh and Navdeep Kaler enthralled students with their hit numbers.
Chairman Dr Anshu Kataria welcomed the star cast in the surroundings full of Punjabi touch with music of 'Dhol'. Later during the event, Dr Kataria honoured all the members of star cast.

The stage full of solo and group dances one after one kept the students in the entertaining spirit. Students enjoyed the event as they also dance along with the stage performances. Almost all the cultures of India was shown in the form of dance which includes Himachali Dance Naati, Punjabi Bhangra and Giddha, Mahakal Dance, Kashmiri Dance, Rajasthani Dance, Hip hop dance and Bhojpuri dance. The event ended with a fashion show by students wearing outfit highlighting "Cultures of India".

World Health Day celebrated at The British School Panchkula

The British School, Sector 8 and 12, Panchkula, have been, for more than a decade, providing a caring environment to the young toddlers as they step into their pre-primary years. The British School, Sector 8 and 12, Panchkula, have a firm understanding of age appropriate educational practices which help develop creativity, independence and decision making.
Mornings begin with a short and sweet circle time which includes music and movement, then comes outside time.  Outside time is a priority as it promotes exercising, socializing, sharing, taking turns, co-operating and problem solving. The play area has equipment’s for climbing, running, throwing, catching and swinging.
Art is a regular feature of everyday classroom tasks. Clay, finger painting, collage making is practiced. The artistic process is more important than the finished product for three years old. Bulletin board displays a wide variety of children’s art which reflects the creativity of the child.
Phonics is taught in a playful manner. The class educator reads rhyming books, poems, nursery rhymes and involve language play.
Math is hands on and play. Blocks, crayons, tiffin boxes and more. objects found in the classroom are used to teach counting, grouping, shapes and much more. Rangometry is quite popular with both students and parents.
The School Director Sh. Sanjay Sethi said, “Teacher is a role model for pro-social behavior by being kind, patient, sympathetic and helpful. The class educator helps children build pro-social behavior by making them work together as a team to build, create and share toys and materials”.
There are always materials and activities that promote small motor development: Play- dough to squeeze, stickers and stamps for creating, beads to string and blocks to build.

The British School Panchkula reopens for New Academic Session

It’s that time of the year again – old friends, new classes, fresh faces and beaming smiles. The British School, Panchkula started with the new Academic Session on April 04, 2018.
The class rooms were once again filled with the chirping of the little ones and liveliness of the teenagers. Orientation was held for the parents wherein they were apprised of the curriculum and co-curricular activities that would be organized for the academic year 2018-19. Parents visited the class room with the students.

The first day started with a special assembly in the morning wherein the Principal Anita Mehra spoke about not only the importance of education but the need to inculcate values amongst students for a better and brighter tomorrow.

“Roshaan” kick-started with Baisakhi Celebrations at Aryans Campus

Annual feature “Roshaan”, 2 days cultural extravaganza kick started with the Baisakhi celebrations at Aryans Group of Colleges, Rajpura, Near Chandigarh. Students of various courses including B.Tech, MBA, LL.B, BA-LL.B, BBA, BCA, GNM, ANM, B.Ed, MA (Edu), Diploma, BA etc participated in the function.
Students performed Giddha and Bhangra items on live Dhol in the golden fields near Aryans Campus in the colourful traditional dresses to welcome the harvest season.
Dr. Anshu Kataria, Chairman, Aryans Group while congratulating said that the closing ceremony of 2 days cultural function would be held on 5th April wherein starcast of Subedar Joginder Singh movie including Kulwinder Billa, Rajvir Jawanda, Aditi Sharma, Jaggi Singh, Charan Singh and Sharan Mann etc would give performance.
Giddha, Bhangra,  Shiv Tandav , Ramp Walk, Mime, Naati, Kashmiri Dance , Dogri, Western dance, Bhojpuri, Dark Monster, Jhumar, Punjabi dance, Fusion, Act, Folk dance, solo song, solo dance etc. would be the main attractions.

The counselor Karanbir talked about “Separation” anxiety in the young ones, behavior plan and strategies for parents to deal with children and help them foster a positive and constructive disposition.
A Nutritionist from PGIMER updated the parents about the nutritional needs of the little ones and the importance of a healthy diet.

Eco Drive conducted at St Joseph Senior Secondary School

The ECO Club of St. Joseph’s Sr. Sec. School Sector- 44 D, Chandigarh initiated the Green Campus campaign by saying “No to Polybags and Aluminum foils” in the school premises. This move was taken keeping in view to teach the young minds the hazards of plastic and the ill effects of aluminum foil on their health. The teachers talked to the students about the accumulation of plastic in the environment due its non-bio degradable nature which results in various health hazards in humans and animals.
They also highlighted the harmful effects of wrapping and cooking foods in aluminum foil. The students were made aware of alternative methods of bringing food wrapped in cloth napkins and also use cloth bags instead of polybags.
The school also started  “A Plant to Heal” drive in the class rooms where in children brought various planted herbs  like Tulsi, Aloe Vera, Basil, Mint and indoor plants like spider plant, peace lily which act as air purifiers and created an Eco corner and promised to take care of the plants. The idea behind it was to emphasize the fact that Nature acts as the Best Physician. This enhanced the knowledge of the students about these magical plants and their significance and its healing effects and planning to keep nature close to their heart.

Trials for Junior Federation Cup

Chandigarh Athletics Association (Regd.) is going to conduct the selection trials to select the Chandigarh Team of Boys and Girls for Junior Federation Cup 2018 at Sports Complex, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh on 05.04.2018 (Thursday) at 9am.
Selected athletes will participate in Junior Federation Cup at Coimbatore, Tamilnadu from 20 to 22 April, 2018. The athlete who is born on or after 23.04.1998 is eligible to participate in these trials but he/ she must be resident, studying or working in Chandigarh only.
Interested athletes have to registered their names for the trials to Sh. Maninder  Singh, Athletics Coach, Sports Complex, Sector 7-B, Chandigarh.

Trials for 11th Junior National Dodgeball Championship

The player who is born on or after 01.01.1999 is eligible to participate in this trials but he/she must be resident, working or studying in Chandigarh.

Welcome Party held at AKSIPS-45

An orientation program for parents was conducted at Saupin’s 32 for the session 2018-2019. The parents were apprised of the teaching methodology being practiced and the new activities to introduce in the school curriculum through the PowerPoint Presentation.
The parents were introduced to the pedagogy, new subjects, assessment techniques and various activities for the coming session. The aim of conducting the orientation session was to make parents aware of the upcoming innovative ways the school has introduced to meet the demands of the changing trends in the field of education.
