Kids' wishes on International Nurses Day

Kids of Smiling Kiddies Playway school celebrated International Nurses Day to mark the contribution of nurses in our society. They performed many activities and saluted the nurses who are working tirelessly to provide the care and attention to corona patients. Playgroup & Nursery kiddies made Nurse shape craft while Junior & Senior Kiddies made Nurse coat craft. They showed great honour & respect for the nurses by saying 'Thankyou' to them.

Smiling Kiddies celebrated Mother's Day while staying safe at Home

The little kids of Smiling Kiddies Playway School celebrated Mother's day with their mothers at home. They performed various activities together to mark the day. Playgroup students and their mothers made colorful butterflies by printing their feet. Nursery & Junior Kiddies students made beautiful photo frames which highlighted a deep bonding between the two. Senior Kiddies performed fireless cooking with their mothers & enjoyed the day with a memory to relish.

Hike on Petrol and Diesel prices in Chandigarh from midnight; VAT increased

The Chandigarh Administration has hiked the VAT rates on petrol & Diesel.
The New rates of VAT on petrol is “22.45% or fixed rate of Rs. 12.58 per litre whichever is higher” and on diesel is “14.02 % or fixed rate of Rs. 7.63 per litre whichever is higher”.
The earlier rates of VAT on petrol & diesel were 17.45% and 9.02% respectively.
With the increase in VAT rates, the selling price of Petrol will be Rs. 68.62 per litre & Diesel Rs. 62.02 on the basis of today’s prevailing selling price and these changes will come into effect from the midnight of 06th May, 2020/ 07th May, 2020.
With the hike in the VAT rates of petrol & diesel, the Administration will get additional VAT revenue of Rs. 100 Cr. approx. in this financial year 2020-21.

Mortal remains of Martyr Maj. Anuj Sood cremated

Mortal remains of martyr Maj.Anuj Sood were consigned to flames today at Mani Majra cremation ground with full military honours. He had laid down his life fighting the militants in Handwara (Kupwara) in Kashmir.


Large number of people were present to bid adieu to the brave son of India. Notable among the defence dignitaries who paid homage to the martyr were LT Gen Gurpal Singh Sangha, AVSM, SM, VSM, COS Western Command, MAJ Gen Balwinder Singh, COS 11 CORPS,BRIG Tejvir singh Mundi, Station Commander, Chandimandir, BRIG D S Kushwaha, SM,  BRIG ADM, HQ Western Command, BRIG Upkar Singh, Commander 37 Infantry Brigade, COL Adesh Kumar, ADM Commandant, Chandimandir, COL Jacob kurian, COL ADM, HQ Western Command and COL Kunal Bhuria, Commanding Officer 6SIKHLI.


6SIKHLI presented gun salute to the martyr.

Curfew lifted in Chandigarh ; Long queue witnessed outside Liquor Vends in City

After uplifting of curfew in Chandigarh, and relaxation is announced from 10am to 6pm, various liquor vends attracts huge number of residents in different sectors of city. Awaiting this long pending decision which favours liquor lovers, a large number of city residents throng outside a liquor house in sector 9 Chandigarh. A


Although people followed social distancing while standing in queue, however, interestingly the queue was quite long as compared to grocery buyers. Many were seen taking good stock of liquor bottles as they might think the unavailability later. Here's a video shows the scenario:-

Smiling Kiddies showed their gratitude on labour day.

In this time of quarantine, kids made a thankyou card for frontline helpers by staying at home to mark the celebration of Labour Day. Tiny tots beautifully expressed their emotions on card through art work. They highlighted how labour is the backbone of our country and we should value and respect their hard work. CGC Jhanjeri distributed face Mask, sanitizers & food essentials to needy and poor

Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri ‘s A Helping Hand Club  carry forward its efforts to help those affected by COVID-19 pandemic. A number of social services and philanthropic activities have been carried out by CGC Jhanjeri, on a regular basis.

CGC Jhanjeri distributed various essential items such as food, snacks, water, soaps, among daily wage workers whose livelihood was stopped or reduced due to COVID-19 lockdown. The club is working tirelessly to provide nearly 1,000  meals  laborers  on  regular basis. Club is active in creating separate medical wards both for male and female. Isolation ward has been created with nearly 200 beds capacity with the provision to increase it to 1,000 beds  in case of need.

To keep the entire CGC Jhanjeri campus properly sanitized and free of coronavirus infection, Sanitizing Walk through Gate Tunnels have been installed at the entrance and other important locations. The entire campus has been sprayed with medically recommended disinfectant, making it completely safe to study and work.


Implementing additional precautionary measures, more than 1,000 face masks have been distributed by the club that were stitched by the Fashion Technology department of CGC Jhanjeri, with the target to distribute 5,000 such masks .Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President CGC said at the moment that Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Jhanjeri has left no stone unturned to extend helping hand for social cause to ensures the safety of everyone.
