Workshop on Strategies to cope with Examination Stress

The British School, Panchkula conducted an interactive workshop with the students of classes one to five on tips to prepare for upcoming final exams without undue physical and mental anxiety or stress. Students often feel overwhelmed and find it difficult to cope with the preparations for final examination therefore it was found prudent by class educators to guide children with tips to dissipate stress and help all students breeze through the exams. The educators implemented a “How to Study” workshop and taught students self -regulating techniques with instructions on creating not just a study time table but also to ensure regularity in sleeping and waking pattern during exam days. The children were cautioned about not indulging in street food and junk food and to stay nourished with healthy home cooked food and adequate hydration via water, soups and fresh juices.

The activity teachers guided the children with light meditation techniques and asked them to take frequent and well-timed breaks. The children were told not to stay at their study desks during the breaks and to walk, run or play outdoors. Vardaan Sharma of class-5 shared that basket- ball is a good stress buster while Saanvi of class-3 finds it refreshing to play music and dances to it during her study
break. The Director of the school, Sanjay Sethi congratulated the staff and the students on the successful completion of another academic year and said that while for some students revision is second nature for others it is time for sweaty palms. Such handy tips will help do away with the stress and make sure all students get through exams in a happy and relaxed manner.
