Chandigarh, February 21, 2018
National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Chandigarh (NIELIT) organized a training programme on e-Waste for Government Officials at NIELIT, Sector 30-B, Chandigarh. The chief guest, Dr Manoj K Arora, Director, PEC University of Technology, inaugurated the event and spoke extensively about the problems of e-waste and its disposal. It was informed that about 1.5 million tons of e-waste was being produced in the country which was challenging the existing capacity for its safe disposal.

Dr M M Sharma, Executive Director, NIELIT Chandigarh thanked the Chief guest and also apprised the participating Govrenment officials about the hazards of e-Waste. He thanked the participants who underwent this training and hoped that such initiatives will help in spreading knowledge and techniques of safely disposing of e-Waste. Meenakshi Gaur, Additional Director, NIELIT Chandigarh also shared her views on e-Waste Management and was keen on promoting such training programmes. Around 60 government officers of Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh benefited from the training programme.
