"Swachhta Hi Sewa and Poshan Abhiyaan" concluded in Chandigarh

A month long "Swachhta hi Sewa" Abhiyaan alongwith POSHAN Abhiyaan conducted by Centre for Social Work and NSS, Panjab University Chandigarh. During this programme, a number of activities were conducted by the students in and around the campus with the mentorship of Dr Gaurav Gaur. Activities include two days training programme on MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT (MHM) was conducted Himadri, Sunita, Rashi and Rashim from Centre for Social Work, Panjab University to 53 girls and women from surroundings villages of Kaimbala and Khudda Jassu at Govt Home Science college, Sector 10, Chandigarh.
In another programme another two days MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT training programme for 95 students of Post Graduate Govt College for Girls sector 11, Chandigarh by Dr Gaurav Gaur, Dr Manjushri Sharma,  Dr Anupam Bahri, Dr Amrit and supported by Ms Harman, Sonal, Abhilasha and Vishaka Sharma from Centre for Social Work. With the help of videos and interactive sessions the students were imparted with correct information on this important issue.
In this Abhiyaan, not only human needs were addressed but more than 110 volunteers were also sensitized about the welfare and protection laws related to Animals, in a two days training programme at Golden Jubliee Hall, Panjab University Chandigarh.
Moreover, a cleanliness drive was organised near the Students' Centre and Emerging Areas Building by the Masters in Social Work students and it was followed by participating in a Swachhta Rally, the next day.
An awareness talk was given by Dr Gaurav Gaur to around 530 students alongwith college Principal and various teachers at PGGCG, Sector 42 on Swachhta hi Sewa. On the occasion Davesh Moudgil, Mayor, Chandigarh acted as the Chief Guest and he also addressed the  audience. The Mayor honoured two students Mr Atul Padda and Ms Komaljeet Kaur for doing expectional work in the field of Social Work.
In the concluding week, Hand Washing drives were conducted for the migrant construction workers and their children at various construction sites in sector 14 and 25, Panjab University Chandigarh. Not only this but under POSHAN ABHIYAAN, they were  distributed Free Nutritional Diet which included Bananas, Lassi and dry ration like rice, pulses, wheat flour and mustard oil. These eating items were made available to the children and families of the construction workers by three NSS Volunteers namely Atul Padda, Mandeep Singh Bhandal and Navneet Sharma.
With a hope to continue such campaigns with more energy and enthusiasm, these were concluded.
