The NSS volunteers from Centre for Social Work Panjab University Chandigarh conducted an orientation session on MENSTRUAL HYGIENE MANAGEMENT for 150 students of PGGCG- Sector 11, Chandigarh at their college during an ongoing week long NSS special camp.
The orientation session was conducted by Hiteshi Arora, Kiranbir Kaur, Nitika Saini and Simran Kaur, from Centre for Social Work, Panjab University Chandigarh. These trainers with the help of videos, role plays, group work and highly interactive session imparted the correct information on this important issue to 150 students of the said college. Various important issues were discussed like how to respond to health issues during menstruation, what options are available in the market other than sanitary pads like silicon she- cups, how to properly dispose of the used material etc.
This programme was organised as a part of the MHM campaign being run by the Centre for Social Work with the mentorship of Dr Gaurav Gaur since January 2018. He shared that till today, we have touched more than 2300 school, college and University students through this campaign. Our Centre for Social Work is aiming to reach out to more and more audience in the coming time. Most importantly we had been to different locations in Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh till Rajasthan. He said that "Our students are doing an Excellent task. They are putting up an appropriate example of Volunteerism and following the motto of NSS which is "NOT ME BUT YOU".
