Chandigarh, October 15, 2018
A youth delegation from Sri Lanka through the Ministry of External Affairs, Govt. of India visited Panjab University, Chandigarh. A total of 27 young delegates alongwith their team leaders visited the campus. These youngsters were on a tour to our country and they reached Chandigarh. Bikram Rana, State Liasion Officer, NSS and Dr Kotu Sekhar, Regional Director, RGNIYD accompanied this youth delegation.
NSS, Panjab University welcomed the team of delegates with the traditional way of putting tilak on the forehead. Ambika Sood performed the Saraswati Vandana dance and the cultural programme was initiated. The delegation was also given stoles (gamchas) alongwith with flowers. Dr Navdeep Sharma, NSS, Programme Co-ordinator welcomed the delegates and shared the importance of NSS for the young generation. She also shared the exceptional work done by our NSS units with the delegation. The NSS volunteers including Mr Jagdish Banga sang a Punjabi song and recited an English poem. Ms Hiteashi, Meenakshi shared the different activities conducted by NSS, Panjab University during the last one year. Ms. Satwinder also sang a Punjabi song. The Sri lankan delegates also performed their traditional dance during this occasion. Ms Kiran conducted the whole proceeding of the event while hospitality was managed by Kiranbir Kaur, Ishita, Simran and Atul Padda. Later-on this delegation, went to meet the Vice Chancellor of Panjab University.
