More than 60 Volunteers from the college who participated in the Swachh Bharat Summer Internship 2018 were facilitated by UT Mayor Davesh Moudgil. The function was arranged in the college under “Swachhata Hi Sewa Hai' abhiyaan of Government of India. Dr. Navdeep Sharma, Programme Coordinator, NSS, PU Chandigarh and Dr. Gaurav Gaur, Department of Social Work, PU Chandigarh also graced the occasion.
Principal, Prof. (Dr.) Anita Kaushal welcomed the Chief Guest and other dignitaries. She highlighted various activities carried out by the college under the Swatchh Bharat Abhiyaan. Under this Abhiyaan, the students are being encouraged to adopt healthy practices related to hygiene management and are being sensitized for the segregation of waste into wet and dry.
Dr Manoj Kumar, Nodal Officer for Swachh Bharat Summer Internship highlighted the activities of the volunteers who participated as individual and as teams. Each student devoted 100 hours to the swachhta related activities in the nearby villages such as Behlana, Khuda Jassu, Dhanas, Khuda Lahora,
Chief Guest Davesh Moudgil thanked and congratulated the institution for spreading the swachhta awareness amongst the students and citizens. He motivated the students to make swachhta as a part of their culture. Further, he urged the students to make consistent efforts to make the city clean and make Swachhta as a part of every debate, discussion and activity.
He highlighted the efforts made by Municipal Corporation Chandigarh under Swachhta Abhiyaan and his aim to make Chandigarh BIN FREE. He requested the citizens to incorporate the 3Rs Reduce, Reuse and Recycle along with the Refusal to use plastic and disposable products.
