The fifth day of the NSS seven days camp was dedicated to "SWASTH BHARAT". The NSS volunteers were taken for a nature walk along with their Programme Officers Dr Anupam Bahri, Ikreet Singh,  Manjushri Sharma, Purva Mishra and Gaurav Gaur. The nature walk started from Panjab University campus to Dhanas Lake which later-on entered to the Botanical Garden at Village Sarangpur.
The students were made to understand the importance of flora and fauna around them. This main motive behind this walk was to make the students to understand the importance of physical activities like walking, running etc for keeping themselves fit. At botanical garden the students were made to see the magnificent work done by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration. The NSS volunteers roamed around and saw the solar panels, wind mills, plants nursery and a water pond made for the migratory birds.
Students also enjoyed different varieties of blooming flowers. They were provided with healthy nutritional refreshments also. Afterwards, students shared their experiences of the visit. "I was not aware of such a beautiful park in the vicinity of Chandigarh before", as told by one of the student visitor. Another student said "Sometimes... it is difficult to make our home and surroundings clean and green but Chandigarh Botanical garden is a perfect example of cleanliness, greenery and innovation". One can feel the clam and quietness and do introspection at such a lovely place. All the students were of the opinion that in the modern times, when we are becoming the slaves of the technology, we are going away from the mother nature and hence we can't feel the internal happiness and affection, but this visit was organized to take them a step closer to nature.
