Mount Carmel School celebrated Independence Day

Independence Day was celebrated at Mount Carmel School, sector 47-B, Chandigarh. The day started with a welcome speech by Jinsa Elizabeth George, the Head Girl of the School. The Directors of the School then hoisted the National Flag. Moved further the school choir led the students, teachers and other staff members of the School present on this occasion, in singing the National Anthem. The Directors and the Principal then took salute of an impressive March Past by the contingents of the four Houses and Scouts and Guides of the School led by the School Cabinet members. This was followed by speeches on Independence Day by students, in which the freedom fighters of our country were remembered and Poems on Freedom were also recited. The School Hindi Choir presented a patriotic song ‘ Hum Sabh Bhartiya Hain…..’. This was followed by dance performances on  patriotic songs by the Indian Dance Club of the School. The students of the Integrity Club also presented a flash back on India’s struggle for Independence. They highlighted the landmark events that culminated in the call for freedom viz. Jallianwalla Bagh Massacre, Civil Disobedience Movement, Dhandi March etc., which finally led to Independence.
Dr. Earnest Charles J. Samuel, Director of the School spoke on this occasion on the importance of being people of integrity and how everyone needs to be free from the clutches of evil with which we have bound ourselves and be careful not to misuse the freedom that we have been given. Dr. Parveena John Singh, Principal of the School stated, “We should take the oath today of being highly responsible citizens of India to lead and safeguard this democratic and secular nation. This freedom is priceless and we should never fail to value it and preserve it whole heartedly.
The programme closed the National Anthem.
