Panchkula, April 21 2018
Around 150 chess lovers and little chess masters participated in the 9th Panchkula District Chess Championship organized by ‘The Chess Association (Panchkula) with the collaboration of St. Teresa Convent School, Panchkula under the aegis of Panchkula Chess Championship for the U-7, U-11, U-15, U-19 boys. The competition saw participants from various schools of Panchkula district. The Chief Guest for the event was Naresh Sharma, Secretary, Haryana Carom Association. The day began with the lighting of the lamp by Chief Guest and Principal Shelley Chugh.
It was followed by the felicitation of the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour. The day was filled with the atmosphere of enthusiasm, winning spirit and love for the game. The parents of the players supported and motivated the children.
The event concluded the second day, which was graced by Amit Chopra, Administrator of the School. The prizes were awarded to the winners in various categories by DSO Kaithal, Retd. Jaswant Singh, Administrator, Amit Chopra and Principal Shelley Chugh.
They applauded and appreciated the spirits of camaraderie and competition shown by the students. The students were asked to stay motivated as winning and losing are sides of the same coin.
It was a great day for the winners, who took away the trophy and participants who took away a great lesson and a vow to play and win the next tournaments.
