Mayor honours "Veer Naaris" on Women’s day

Celebrating International Women’s Day, UT Mayor Davesh Moudgil and Jitender Yadav, IAS, Commissioner, Municipal Corporation Chandigarh honoured Veer Naaris at Mayor’s office, in sector 17 Chandigarh. The Veer Naaris, honoured were Harshada, w/o Shaurya Chakra Shahid Sergeant Milind Kishore, martyred on 11^th October, 2017, Minasha, w/o Shaurya Chakra Shahid Cpl. Nilesh Kumar Nayan, martyred on 17^th October, 2017 and Sushma, w/o Ashok Chakra Shahid Cpl. Jyoti Parkash Nirala, martyred on 18^th November, 2017.

Addressing the occasion, Mayor said that by honouring these Veer Naaris, the MC Chandigarh honoured their husbands and salutes them for their bravery and sacrifice for the security and safety of the Nation. He further said that empowering women is very necessary to bring gender equality.

He further said that women should also identify their strengths and abilities, and move towards world of empowerment.
