Elante spreads message of "Equality for All"

Celebrating 71st Independence Day, underprivileged children from NGO Ashman Foundation and kids from Oakridge International School join hands and stand to make a tri-colour India at Elante Mall in Chandigarh on Monday. Children also present national flags to the visitors to share the celebrations. Later on children visited Fun City to enjoy fun-filled games. The event was organized by the mall to spread message “Equality for All”.

Holy Wonders Smart School celebrates Independence Day

Students of the Holy Wonders Smart School rejoiced the spirit of Independence in a grand function that marked the concluding of the weeklong activities and festivities in the school. To sensitize the students about the values and importance of the Independence Day, a number of activities were organized in the school premises. On this patriotic occasion students showcased colourful spectacle of India’s vision through their performance. Students hold a musical presentation depicting different facets of our glorious freedom. Cultural bonanza of dances and folk songs from the different states of India were also organized.

While encouraging the students Director Ashween Arora emphasized the need of self-discipline along with freedom and liberty is an essential ingredient for the country’s growth and development. Speaking on the occasion Principal Premjit Grover said that the activities and workshops were a practical way to approach the young minds and relate them to the spirit of Nationalism. She said at this occasion that we should never forget the supreme sacrifice of our leaders. We owe them for the freedom that we enjoy today. Independence Day reminds us that we have still not achieved what our freedom fighters wanted us to do. We should pledge to make India free from social ills like poverty, corruption and illiteracy.

Giving a message of Saving Nature, Ashmah International School Mohali celebrated Independence Day in the school premises on Monday. The whole school echoed with slogans of "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" and “Jai Hind" as students pledged to serve the nation and to contribute in its progress. They also pledged against the corruption, terrorism, poverty and caste. Quiz was also conducted for classes VI to X in which questionnaire on the Independence was framed. The knowledge about the freedom struggle and role of great freedom fighters for Independence was imparted. Students of senior classes presented a skit depicting the efforts of freedom fighters to achieve independence.


The school choir enhanced the spirit of patriotism by singing a couple of songs, dances and speeches. The painting competition also organized on the theme '70th Independence Day'.
Speaking on this occasion Principal Babita Dogra said that this emancipation has come after the struggle and sacrifices of the people for more than two centuries and requested the gathering to live in harmony with each other. The program culminated with the singing of the National Anthem and with distribution of sweets to all the students.

Celebrating Independence Day students of Smiling Kiddies Playway school took part in National Anthem during flag hoisting with great enthusiasm. Students wore tri-colour banners and sang patriotic song (We shall overcome.....). Students brought tri coloured dish in their lunch boxes. Students of Nursery and K.G classes performed pasting activity on Indian map and whereas play class students group performed tri colour balloon pasting in scrap files.

Imparting knowledge of Indian traditional festival, Krishna Janamashtami was celebrated with fervour at Smiling Kiddies Playway School in Zirakpur. The whole school was decorated. The students came dressed as Radha and Krishna and performed traditional dance with great zeal. Students of Nirsery and K.G classes performed ‘Matki Decoration’ with cotton and pasting activity. Play class students performed flute decoation activity. Students also visited temple and worshipped.

Swadeshi Jagran Manch starts signature campaign to boycott Chineseproducts

With slogans ‘Chinese Bhagao, Desh Bachao’, Swadeshi Jagran Manch launched a massive signature campaign against Chinese products in Chandigarh. The campaign led, by Swadeshi Suraksha Abhiyaan convenors Deepak Batra and ex-councilor cum BJP leader Saurabh Joshi, appealed to the city people to boycott products made in China. A huge wall was set-up in the middle of the Sector-17 Plaza wherein the denizens put their signatures in support of the campaign.  




In their address to the people, it was appealed that China is dumping its products in India and strengthening its economy, it is at the same time involved in a border standoff with India. China had harmed Indian interests on various issues including terrorism and supporting Pakistan. Batra and Joshi appealed to the people that China can be taught a lesson by boycotting its products. They said that the Swadeshi Jagran Manch has started many such campaigns against Chinese products throughout the country.
Joshi said that similar campaigns have been undertaken in Chandigarh from 8th August where different programs have been carried out in schools, colleges and various localities and people are being made aware of the harms of using Chinese products. The campaign will end on August 20 at Ramlila Ground in Sector 27 where a huge rally will be organized. The event will be attended by national leaders, he added.
Chandigarh Sanghchalak Triloki Nath Ji, Seh-Sanghchalak Rajendra Jain and hundreds of members of the Swadeshi Jagran Manch and the BJP were present on the occasion.

The Holy Wonder Smart School celebrated Krishnashtami with gaiety. Students dressed up in the costume of Lord Sri Krishna, Kansa and Gopikas performed the roles of characters related to Gokulashtami. They won the heart of the audience by enacting various roles of Sri Krishna from childhood as Nathkhat Bansi, Makhan Chor and speaking chaste Hindi dialogues.

Dressed in the attire of Krishna and gopikas, they spread the message of ancient Puranas and information of traditions and culture was imparted to the students. The event also brought awareness among the children about traditional customs while enjoying the pranks of Lord Krishna. Fun and frolic marked the presentation. Students captivated the audience with their scintillating performances. The matki-fod competition, best Krishna dress competition and several other programs depicting the characteristics of Bal Gopal (Young Krishna) were main attraction at the occasion.

The brief introduction on the early life and birth of Krishna was also imparted by Director of the School Ashween Arora and  enlightened the minds of the young children .According to her the deeper message of Janmashtami is that we should make efforts towards imbibing the aspects of Shri Krishna to wade easily through life.

Celebrating Krishna Janamashtami, tiny tots of Ashmah International School, Sector 70 Mohali of K.G presented a beautiful dance form ‘Govinda Ala Re’. ‘Bhajan Recital’ performed by the younger students left the hearts of the audience spell bound. Another soul-touching dance formation was presented by the girls ‘Woh Kisna Hai’. A speech was also delivered to explain the importance of ‘Krishna Ashtmi’ by the students. Showing the strong bond of friendship between ‘Krishna and Sudama’ a heartwarming skit was also performed, which followed by traditional folk dance ‘Madhuban Mai Koi Kanhiyaan’. Students were told about Krishna's life and his thoughts, which form a part of the holy book 'Bhagwad Gita'. As a tradition, special ‘Matkee’ was also prepared which by broken by students dressed up as Kanha to get butter.

Teej celebrated at GGSCW-26 Chandigarh

Dressed up in Indian traditional wear of bright hues in the lush green campus of Guru Gobind Singh College for Women in sector -26 of Chandigarh, students celebrated the festival of Teej. Dancing on the tunes of Punjabi numbers, students also took part in Miss Teej, Mehandi and Parandi tying competitions. Food stalls offering delicious kheer poora, chaat  and tikki was also set up for the students.

HPCL celebrates its Foundation Day

Celebrating CSR month, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is specifically chosen as it is Corporation’s Foundation Day. During the entire month, Corporation organizes various CSR activities around the country. In this region, apart from all the other initiatives, we have chosen to organize a theatre workshop for children in need of care and support living at “Snehalya” in association with Department of Social Welfare, Women and Child Development, Chandigarh Administration.

Trained from ‘Mask Theatre’ group, the children presented theatre production titled “Tamso Ma Jyotirgamya” of two plays. These were Hindi adaptation of two plays titled “The Imp and the Crust” and “The Bishop’s Candles”. This workshop was chosen as theatre is known to help children channelize their energy, balance their emotions, improve self-expression, enhance self-confidence and build subtle communication and life-skills.

Ajit Balaji Joshi, IAS, DC, Chandigarh, was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Chief General Manager, HPCL, Shri Subodh Batra, was also present on the occasion. DC lauded the efforts of HPCL and said that it is heartening to see these children perform on stage.

An essay writing and quiz competition was organized at Maharishi Dayanand Public School organized to mark Akshay Urja Divas in collaboration with Chandigarh Renewal Energy, Science and Technology Promotion Society (CREST). Particiation by students in competition were in good number. During the event students expressed about present renewable means of energy which is to be given more importance in the country. New renewable sources of energy are obtained through technology, which have been developed recently. Students said that there are adequate possibilities of renewable energy which are infinite. Solar appliances in homes, solar lights, solar vehicles, water heating heaters etc. should be used. This does not adversely affect the environment. At present, renewable energy will help the country's growing population to achieve economic prosperity.

Kumkum, Khushi and Chetan bagged first, second and third position respectively in Essay Writing Competition whereas the quiz competition was divided into junior and senior categories.  Winning the tough competition, Neeraj and Hansraj stood first by getting 60 marks, Harshpreet and Raj Kumar got 40 marks and received second place. Vishali and Mayank achieved 35 marks that stood third. Principal Dr. Vinod Kumar gave away prizes to the winners. 

Declamation Contest on "Role of Women in the Indian Freedom Struggle"

To highlight the participation of women in the Indian Freedom Struggle,   Historical Society of the Guru Gobind Singh College for Women in sector 26 organized a declamation contest on “The Role of Women in the Indian Freedom Struggle” to mark 71st celebration of Independence Day and 75th anniversary of Quit India Movement (1942). Around 60 students from all disciplines participated in the event and 25 of them shared their views with focus on active participation and sacrifice of women in the Revolt of 1857, Swadeshi Movement (1905), Non-Cooperation Movement (1920), Civil Disobedience Movement (1929) and Quit India Movement (1942). Students also focused on the revolutionary activities of women during the freedom struggle. Many women freedom fighter like Rani Luxmi Bai of Jhansi, Begum Hazrat Mahal, Kasturba Gandhi, Sarojini Naidu, Annie Besant, Madam Bikaji Cama, Sarla Devi Chaudharani, Kamla Nehru, Vijay Luxmi Pandit, Aruna Asif Ali, Lakshmi Sehgal, Kadambni Ganguly, Bina Das, Urmila Devi, Kalpana Dutt, Usha Mehta and Maharani Amrit Kaur etc. were remembered.

MR Vaccination campaign organized at AKSIPS-45

MR vaccination campaign was organized at AKSIPS Smart School in sector 45 of Chandigarh on Friday. The vaccination was made available by the department of Health and Welfare. The Government doctors and in house doctors ensured the First –Aid and emergency preparedness. Parents were guided and informed about the campaign well in advance. They were allowed to accompany their wards in the school premises.

Universal group organised 'Selfie’ with tree campaign

With an idea to attract more people to plant saplings Universal Group of Institutions, Lalru organised 'Selfie’ with tree campaign. Encouraging the students for the social cause, Chairman, UGI, Dr. Gurpreet Singh informed that all the necessary instructions are already given to students. Each student pledge to plant minimum one tree, this way the Institute aims to plant minimum one thousand saplings to increase green cover.

Krishna Janamashtami celebrated at AKSIPS 45

Wearing crowns and flutes, carrying earthen pots, reciting traditional rhymes, the tiny tots of AKSIPS 45 celebrated Krishna Janamashtami through a special assembly in the school premises in Chandigarh on Wednesday. Orientation Week for Freshers at Dev Samaj College of Education

An orientation week for freshers was conducted at Dev Samaj College of Education in sector-36 of Chandigarh. The new session 2017-19 started with great zeal in the gracious presence of Nirmal Singh Dhillon, honorable secretary Dev Samaj and Principal Dr. Agnese Dhillon. It was the time when our would be teachers witnessed their first moment at Dev Samaj College of Education as the revered Shri Nirmal Singh Dhillon, blessed them to start a new chapter in their lives. Orientation was started with the prayer and was briefly followed by introduction about college, faculty members and campus visiting. The Principal exhorted the students to become role models and encouraged them to inculcate in them the value of proficiency, fluency and clarity. She also requested the students to be sincere during their term.

The NSS Department sensitized the minds of students towards NSS activities and for the ongoing 15 days "Swachtta Pakhwarka" celebrations.
