Saupin’s School, (Chandigarh/ Mohali) conducted a
four day workshop for their teachers on “Demystifying Emotional Intelligence”. Emotional Intelligence is the ability of
individuals to identify their own, as well as other people’s emotions and to be able to differentiate between emotions. Not only be able
to identify but to interpret and understand others emotions as well. By
identifying them rightly, one can use that information to guide one’s thinking,
behaviour and actions. It works in four ways “Understanding Emotions--Using
Emotions--Managing Emotions--Perceiving Emotions”.
This workshop introduced the neuroscience of
learning how emotions and stress impact learning. It equipped teachers with the
strategies to be more mindful and nurture self-regulation in children. This
would not only facilitate the teaching- learning process but help nurture
skills for a lifetime.
The facilitator was Ms. Sanjoli
Chimni Pande and Group Capt. HS Chimni of “Mind and Heart Foundation”. They
have worked extensively in the area of Emotional Intelligence with numerous
organizations.
