Teej celebrated at The British School Panchkula

Onset of monsoon brings the festive era in the Northern part of our country. The kindergarten students of The British School celebrated monsoon festival ‘Teej’ with great fervour.  

The children were told about this festival and the way it is celebrated.
The educators arranged dancing session for the children. They enjoyed tapping their feet on traditional beats. The celebration was fun filled with local traditional songs which gave a reflection of our culture and heritage. The little ones had fun on swings. To add  sweetness to the celebration the children had brought traditional sweets in their tiffin.

Smiling Kiddies Playway School celebrated 'Teej' with festivity & zeal. Kiddies were dressed up in traditional Punjabi dress & looked amazingly good. The school was very well decorated according to theme. Little girls had fun while getting henna applied on their hands whereas  boys performed bhangra with lots of energy. They enjoyed traditional sweet ghevar also. Play Group kids decorated swing as their file activity. Nursery class kiddies pasted leaves in kalash beautifully & KG class kids performed thread pasting activity in one string instrument Ektara. The excitement of the little ones was the best part of the day.

To celebrate the magic of season and to beat the heat, fountain party was organized for the little ones at  Smiling kiddies Playway school, Zirakpur. The little ones were looking very cool and excited. They danced under the sprinkling shower. 
They were shouting and jumping with fun. It was a real treat to the eyes to watch them, feeling so happy and thrilled. Their party tiffins added more flavour of excitement and sweetness. It was a magical moment for them as they had a great time together.

Rainy day is always a fun time for the kids if it is celebrated in the school. Moreover it makes the school environment light and mesmerizing for these unadulterated souls.


Instead of confining them to their class rooms, the students of classes Pre- Nursery, Nursery and K.G were brought out in open by their mentors with umbrellas and rain coats to enjoy the playful rainy weather. The kids really had a festivity time with their friends and the mentors.
Principal Isha Chopra told that such activities assist them to be extroverts. Even the shyest student too will be friendly with everybody in such convenient and child friendly learning environment.

Water conservation awareness campaign held at AKSIPS 45

As an endeavour to generate awareness on water conservation, a rally was held jointly by the students of the interact club and the Eco club of AKSIPS 45 Smart School. It was a mass campaign wherein the students sanitized the people living in Sector 45 A through placards and banners. 
Students raised slogans and encouraged people to use the water resources wisely.  The rally was culminated in the school with a tree plantation drive.  Director Principal Dr. Jasmine Kalra applauded the efforts of the students.

Van Mahotsav celebrated at Ambika Group of Colleges, Kharar

Tree plantation programme  was held at Ambika Public School Badali, Kharar which was organized by school management, staff and students of the school. Saplings of trees were planted by students of classes 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Students were displaying placards explaining the impotence of plants and biodiversity. Principal Om Parkash Sharma, Co-ordinator Sonu Sharma activity in charge, Amita Sharma and Kanchan supervised the whole event. 

Students promised to take care of plants and to water them regularly. School management provided plants saplings of fruit bearing and shade bearing plants. Principal O.P. Sharma explained the importance of plants and trees and conservation of ecosystem to the students. Van Mahotsav, a festival of tree plantation is a regular annual event in the school campus in the earnest attempt to lend a green touch to the school campus and to sensitise the students about their role in conserving it. The celebration was an opportunity to instill the value of social responsibility in the students towards safe guarding trees and forests. Students made posters regarding Van Mahotsav in poster making competition held in school a few days back. Each poster had a unique story and message to tell.

Sanitary Napkins vending machine installed at New Angel Public School, Zirakpur

The Lions & Lioness Club Panchkula Premier along with their Youth wing Leo Club Tricity organised various events at New Angel Public School Zirakpur. The events included an eye check up camp in which around 600 students were examined. Also a tree plantation drive was conducted in which around 50 saplings of shady trees were planted.


In addition a diabetes check up camp for teachers & staff was also held. Installation of Sanitary Napkins Vending Machine was a great initiative during the day. Students were examined in dental Check up camp which was part of all events.
Lions Club Panchkula Premier Chairman Dr SS Bhamra, President Shiny Taneja, Secretary Dinesh Sachdeva, Treasurer Surinder Singh ,G.S Grewal, Raman  & Lioness Manjit Bhamra, Kanchan Jain, Sharanjit Kaur were also present. Members of the Club were felicitated by school Principal Sharanjit Kaur.

Van Mahotsav celebrated with message "Not to Cut Tress" at Smiling Kiddies Playway School

Kiddies showcased the importance of trees through their banners and gave the message "Not to Cut them" during Van Mahotsav celebrations at Smiling Kiddies Playway School. It was celebrated with great fervour. To mark the colour of trees,  kiddies came in green attires.
KG class kids learnt the importance of trees in our lives and planted a sapling. Play group kiddies learnt to save trees through banners. Kiddies performed colouring and glittering in plants and trees as a file activity. The day was filled with knowledge and  massive awareness.

Considering the manifold benefits of trees, including that they release oxygen into the air,  absorb unpleasant odours as well as harmful gases such as carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide from the air and purify it,  protect us from dangerous ultra-violet rays, provide us with food and the pivotal role played by trees in preventing soil erosion, maintaining ecological balance and most especially in lessening the effects of global warming, the St.Teresa Convent school conducted tree plantation drive.


Tree plantation is not just something that should be done; instead, it is a necessity, the urgent need of the hour. Planting of trees is especially important to protect our environment against air pollution and global warming. To this end, our young volunteers have been actively involved in organizing tree plantation campaigns.

Kiddies were looking delighted and came in brown colour attires. Nursery class kids performed an interesting activity and pasted chocolate wrappers in chocolate jar. K.G class kids recited a beautiful rhyme chocolate-Chocolate, through this rhyme they learnt chocolates are made of milk, cocoa and sugar. All kiddies enjoyed chocolate desserts and had an amazing time.

"Expressions" reveals the photography of Art and Culture

To mark the 89th birth anniversary of Late Sh. M.L. Koser, founder of Pracheen Kala Kendra, a photo exhibition “Expressions” dedicated to an eminent Photo journalist of the region, Late Sh. Yog Joy is been organised wherein around 49 photo journalists of tri-city takes part. The exhibition was opened after the inauguration at art gallery of Pracheen Kala Kendra in sector-35 of Chandigarh on 20th June.

An eye-catching work is been displayed in which the colours of art and culture can be clearly seen. The majestic photography work by city photojournalists has been highlighted in the forms such as theatre acts, international dance performances, artists highlighting culture of their respective regions and the like. Other than creativity of photojournalists, impressive works in the field of art by Late Sh. Yog Joy are also displayed which itself speaks a thousand words.
The exhibition is on till 23rd of June at Pracheen Kala Kendra in sector 35 of Chandigarh.

Creative Summer Camp concludes with Fun and Frolic

During the camp, kids got the opportunity to learn various innovative ideas while had a hands-on-experience in art and craft, calligraphy, dance, various forms of yoga asans, shadow art. Kids, with the help of teachers also learnt cooking with fire, table manners and many other things. To beat the scorching summer heat, kids enjoyed the pool party which also had so many water games included. The fun and frolic summer camp gave a chance to kids to explore themselves and learnt in a simplified manner. On the concluding day of event, certificates of participation were also distributed to the children.

The most anticipated film of the year, Chandigarh Amritsar Chandigarh is finally in cinemas now. And it would not be wrong to say that it is by far the best rom-com of Pollywood. Punjabi movies have always been multi-starrers. Breaking this norm, Leostride Entertainment released its first Punjabi film which only stars two leads Gippy Grewal and Sargun Mehta.
And this is also the first time that in a Punjabi film, a story of one day is showcased. The whole film with leads wearing the same outfits throughout is winning special attention. The film has everything on point story, acting, humor, and music.
However, the highlight of the film is the chemistry of Gippy and Sargun. The chemistry between these two actors is what is appreciated the most by the audience. With the release of the film’s trailer, the audience had got really excited for watching the film and luckily, the film doesn’t disappoint even a bit. Their easy camaraderie in the film as well as impeccable comic timing makes the audience laugh and get connected.
Not just in the film, but even at the promotions of the film, the two were seen having a gala time together. Colour coordinated outfits, engaging with the audience, is what they have been doing right now at their promotions.
Apart from their chemistry, Gippy Grewal’s command on Amritsari language and music of the film just adds a cherry on the cake. And both Gippy and Sargun are perfectly suited for their roles of #ambarsariya and @chandigarhwali.
Talking about the credits of the film, it is being directed by Karan R Guliani, and is being produced by Sumit Dutt, Eara Dutt and Anupama Katkar.
The film is being distributed worldwide by Munish Sahni’s Omjee Group.

Sweetness spreads when Kids celebrate Mango Day

Smiling Kiddies Playway School celebrated Mango day with lots of sweetness. Kiddies were looking delighted when they entered and saw the decorated campus. Teachers briefed them about the king of fruits and its various forms of consumption. 
Playgroup kiddies performed thumb printing as a group activity. Nursery class kids did colouring in mango and KG class kids filled the mango with colour shavings.To mark this special day, kiddies came in yellow dress and enjoyed mango during the fruit break. It was a sweet and juicy day for all little stars.

Books Donation Drive held to promote Joy of Reading

To promote the joy of reading among more and more children’s, especially those living in slum settlements & rural areas of the city, Yuvsatta-an NGO, Chandigarh’s State Legal Services Authority-SLSA, Chandigarh Commission for Protection of Child Rights-CCPCR & Earth Day Network-India, launched a ‘Read Chandigarh Campaign’ by organizing a unique ‘KITABAN DA LANGAR (Books Donation Drive)’ programme.

As part of the endeavour, three major book donations drives were organized at Bapudham Colony, village Khudda Ali Sher & Govt. Girls Model Sr. Sec. School, Sector 18C, Chandigarh, where  a total of 500 young children’s participated and a total of 2500 story books, general knowledge books, inspirational books, biographies of prominent people, travel, science and quiz books etc. got collected and distributed.. Prominent amongst those who participated and encouraged the young students included Mahavir Singh, Member Secretary, SLSA,  Raj Bala, Principal, Govt. Girls Model Sr. Sec. "Anukama", an Annual Design Collection Show held at NIIFT Mohali

Beautiful models of NIIFT took the stage by storm this evening to showcase 55 hands-on beautiful collections at Anukama-2019, the annual design collection show of the Institute. The collections were created by the graduating Fashion Design Department.
The collections presented were breathtaking. 



The highlight of Anukama’19 was the collection named 'The lost sound' created by Kajal, inspired by utensil making art of Thathera community of Jandiala Guru that has been accredited as one of the intangible crafts by UNESCO. Anusha also chose her theme ‘Abhidharma Pitaka’ based on Buddhist chant by UNESCO. Smiti Wahi created a collection named 'The fight for light which is a tale of Eskimos survival at Antarctica. Jagriti worked on a collection for the third gender. In fact, transgender also walked the ramp in an attire from her collection. Reetanshu fashioned a collection to bring upfront the violence against human trafficking which was achieved by application of barcodes on her garments. Mohita’s ‘Ball Night to Disco lights' was inspired from Disco glitters, an ornamental art work done with silver CD’s was also presented. Simardeep and Pawan showcased their collection 'Climate injustice' and ‘Volcanic Eruptions’ respectively. The designs were created using the innovative technique & motifs were taken form climatic conditions specially the Glaciers and lava melting state. 'Revival of Patchitra' by Manvi wasstimulated from craft of Orissa and the collection 'Vini Vidi Vici' by Vani Bhagatgot its inspiration from Chinese dragon Loong.

Final Phase of Voting in Chandigarh : Fate of all candidates locked in EVMs

The final phase of polling day saw a tremendous participating of public as people from all walks came to vote to decide the fate of candidates. As the polling started at 7am, people came out of their homes and stand in long queues to exercise their right to vote. The scorching sun did not even transform their mind this time as intend to caste vote to decide the right candidate.
Came to vote on Wheelchair, a senior citizen said that she never miss casting her right to vote and this time she will chose the candidate as per his/her work. She further told that one must vote in order to decide a right candidate who is capable to develop the city in right direction. “I am here to exercise my right not only as this is a polling day but also being a responsible citizen to decide future of our city as missing out voting might favour a wrong candidate and the city’s development might suffer”, as told by Ridhima, a first time voter who came at polling booth in sector 28, Chandigarh. Another family who never miss this opportunity shared that we really celebrate this day by casting our vote and put an example for our children to regularly use this right in order to ensure choosing right government for better development of nation. Flying Sikh Milkha Singh along with his wife also exercised his vote.

The candidates from Chandigarh too exercised their right at their respective polling booths. Congress candidate Pawan Kumar Bansal along with family members reached at Govt High School sector-28 to exercise their right. While standing in line within general public, he interacted with media personals and shared his opinion. “The process is going slow here and it is taking time”, he responded to one of question of media personal. Talking about the rest of the day, he elaborated that he will be visiting other polling booths to see the process. “I am quite confident about winning this seat”, replied to one of question of electronic media personal.
BJP candidate Kirron Kher with husband Anupam Kher exercised the right to vote at sector-7 of Chandigarh on Sunday.
Other than Bansal, the other candidates also exercised their vote in respective locations. BJP candidate Kirron Kher accompanied with her husband Anupam Kher castes her vote at sector 7. 
AAP candidate Harmohan Dhawan with family members exercised the right to vote in Chandigarh on Sunday.
With family members, AAP candidate Harmohan Dhawan too exercised his vote. All the three candidates are in good faith and have the positivity of winning the seat, but the decision of voters will come out on 23rd of May when the EVM machines disclose the truth and decision of voters who turned out in good number to decide the candidate’s destiny.

St. Teresa Convent School students visited blind institute, sector-26, Chandigarh. They observed blind students reading and writing the ‘Braille” letters immaculately. Touching the dots with the finger tips on the white paper, they read the text fluently.
The students who visited were surprised to see the way they spent their life normally. The best part that was surprising was to see the students using computers. All the students in the blind school were well-versed in speaking English fluently. The visit was quite inspiring.

All Kiddies enjoyed their mother's favourite dish during recess time. Heart-warming feelings filled the air with intimacy, gratitude and appreciation.

Kiddies visited a construction site and expressed their gratitude towards workers by giving them refreshments and thanking them for their support and contribution in our society which touched everyone's heart. Some kiddies gave the message of Stop Child Labour through their banners as every child has the right to play and enjoy.
